From Germany: Man Utd begin pursuit of £43m rated 22yo Bundesliga midfielder

Manchester United have ignited their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to reports.

The club came under heavy criticism for failing to sign a midfielder over the summer despite dispensing with Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.

Zakaria, who started his career with Young Boys, has made 68 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach since making his debut in 2017.

According to leading German media outlet Bild, the 22-year-old is available for around £43.4m over the January transfer window.
