Marcos Rojo has revealed that either Manchester United or specifically Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked his transfer to Everton this summer.
The Argentine was keen on a move to Goodison Park this summer and his agent was seen at Carrington for talks with Man United officials.
However, despite being miles down the pecking order, Rojo was not granted a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
Speaking in a recent interview, Rojo opened up about how he wanted a move to Everton, only to be denied as the transfer deadline approached.
“I had the possibility of going to Everton, but due to the decisions of the club or the manager it wasn’t possible,” he said.
“Now I have to fight until December and, if it doesn’t work out, I will try to leave.
“The qualifiers and the Copa America are coming and I want to be part of that. I don’t want to be out again, I want to exhaust all the possibilities and compete to be here.”
Solskjaer’s selection certainly does not suggest that the Norwegian views Rojo as part of his plans. The 29-year-old has only been included in the match-day squad on one occasion this season, playing no minutes whatsoever.
Then again, with Eric Bailly constantly injured and Chris Smalling at AS Roma, perhaps United determined that they could not, on a logistic level, afford to let Rojo leave for good.
