Rashford explains why criticism doesn't bother him at Man United

Marcus Rashford has insisted that pressure does not bother him after the Manchester United forward picked up heavy criticism for his performance against Southampton.

The 21-year-old is now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s undisputed first-choice striker after Romelu Lukaku was sold to Inter Milan last month.

Having impressed with a brace against Chelsea, Rashford picked up widespread criticism for an anonymous display during the 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Speaking ahead of England’s meeting with Bulgaria at Wembley, Rashford emphasised that, having grown up with the culture of United since a young age, the pressure of playing for the club was something of a second-nature phenomenon.

Rashford will always eventually prove his doubters wrong, such is the striker’s sheer ability and sense of calm within himself. There is a reason why every manager he has worked under, from Roy Hodgson to Solskjaer, wants to pick him.

In terms of attitude, there is nothing wrong either, despite some people suggesting that Jesse Lingard has somehow ‘corrupted’ him.

That said, there are things he still must learn. As a player, he is brilliant, but as a striker he is incomplete. Solskjaer will want him to score more ‘scruffy’ goals and demonstrate more authority at close-quarters in the final third.

You have to belief that this academy talent, who has already scored so many big goals, will only keep improving.
