Manchester United have reportedly offered Mason Greenwood a five year contract as they hope to tie down one of their greatest prospects in years.
The young star just scored his first senior goal for the club the other day as he singlehandedly won the match vs Astana in the Europa League.
Some United fans are a little confused as to why a deal is being offered so soon with Greenwood yet to prove himself properly as a first-team player.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly believes in the academy product and probably wants to offer him a contract before he properly explodes and the salary he’d be asking for then would be much higher.
Nonetheless, Greenwood is believed to be keen on staying and prepared to accept the offer but negotiations are still ongoing with the respective representatives.

Greenwood has mostly starred from a right-wing role this season and that’s likely to remain the case barring any injuries.
It’s clear Solskjaer wants to him to learn his trade first before potentially moving him permanently into the striker role.
To be fair to Greenwood he’s still been impressive from the right flank and there’s no doubt that he’s ability to play with both feet helps him in that regard.
