Manchester United star Marcos Rojo may no longer be certain to depart this summer after Luke Shaw was recently ruled out with a hamstring injury.
The young Englishman is expected to be out for five weeks, meaning he’ll miss clashes against Southampton, Leicester City, West Ham and Arsenal.
United’s lack of depth outside of their regular starting XI is rather shocking and so it’s not a surprise if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is panicking over the injury.
In fact some fans were calling for an upgrade on Shaw this summer after the club brought in Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The feeling was the former Southampton man was the Red Devils’ weakness in their defence and he’s no longer the prospect he once was.
According to the Guardian, Shaw’s injury means Rojo is less likely to depart as he is in contention to replace the 24 year old at left-back.
Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian are believed to be the other options for cover with the former probably the first-choice replacement.
The question is, why does an injury make a difference to Solskjaer’s decision to offload a player?
It’s not an incredibly long injury and Rojo needs to be moved on at the earliest to free up wages if not to make way for potential prospects to come through from the academy.
