Manchester United star Anthony Martial will reportedly fail to be fit for the club’s meeting with Southampton after picking up a knock against Crystal Palace last weekend.
The sensational Frenchman’s absence will surely be felt as he’s had an outstanding start to his campaign in a more central role.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reaped the benefits of returning Martial to the striker position but unfortunately it’s come at a cost.
The former AS Monaco man scored once against Chelsea, once against Wolves and notched an assist against Crystal Palace to ensure he’s statistically useful for all three of United’s matches so far.
It’s likely Solskjaer will make Marcus Rashford lead the line in Martial’s absence and the hope will be he can do just as good a job.
According to the Guardian, Martial’s thigh injury is expected to keep him out of the Southampton clash though the full extent of his injury is yet to be known.
Hopefully the versatile attacker won’t need to miss any more matches, particularly with Arsenal on the horizon.
Manchester United are already without Luke Shaw for that crucial fixture and so Solskjaer doesn’t need two of his key players missing.
To make matters worse, the legendary Norwegian will be well aware of the lack of depth in his squad excluding the starting XI.
