Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reportedly wait to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho instead of directly replacing Alexis Sanchez.
Romelu Lukaku is another attacker who has departed this summer, leaving the legendary Norwegian with limited options.
United’s depth outside their starting XI is rather shocking and so Solskjaer is gambling on the hopes his squad won’t suffer any major injuries.
Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial have already picked up knocks so the onus will be on Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood to provide the goals.
There have been suggestions the likes of Fernando Llorente will be signed on a free transfer to give depth to the squad but fans have been mostly against such a move.
According to London Evening Standard, Solskjaer won’t look to sign anyone on a free to replace Sanchez and Lukaku and instead will prioritise the signing of Sancho.
It’s unlikely Manchester United will be able to sign the young Englishman in January so the former Molde boss will have to make his move next summer.
Sancho’s new contract extension is not believed to have influenced Solskjaer’s desire to bring him in but one can expect that the club will have to break the bank to get his signature.
