Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided a summer transfer window update as rumours over the club’s next signing or signings continue to heat up.
The legendary Norwegian has only signed two players so far in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka but reports have suggested they’re closing in on the likes of Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Paulo Dybala.
Signing either two of the aforementioned three would deem United’s summer a relative success and gives the former striker a platform to build his team on.
It was always going to take a few summers for Solskjaer to whip the team up into shape but fans expected more out of the current window.
After all, it’s arguably the most important one since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as the Red Devils risk disappearing into mediocracy after several disappointing years.
According to Sky Sports, Ole said: “We’re looking good. Of course we’ve been working on a few cases over the summer. It’s never easy.
“The club has been very good and the market is very hard.
“We’re trying to get to the start of the season with the squad that we want.”
As much as Solskjaer tries to downplay this summer’s importance, there’s a general feeling he’s only trying to mask his own personal thoughts.
So far the former Molde boss has opted not to complain about everything as his predecessor did and has refrained from criticising the board’s lack of meaningful signings.
Unless something drastically changes, it appears not much can be expected of Ole in terms of suddenly challenging for the Premier League title this season.
