David de Gea 6 – Made a remarkable save in the first half, throwing himself to his left to paw away a ferocious goalbound cross. Could have possibly done better for Suso’s long-range goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7 – Another outing, another solid performance. So tight in his positioning and execution. He’s a shoe-in for Chelsea.
Marcos Rojo 5 – Looked a bit spooked by some crosses and, perhaps naturally, a little off the pace. Thank God for Harry Maguire.
Victor Lindelof 6 – Jittery at times, and could have been tighter to Suso for AC Milan’s first goal, but displayed ambition on the ball.
Luke Shaw 7 – The full-backs did well in this game. Held his position nicely and made a decisive last-ditch tackle on Krzysztof Piątek.
Nemanja Matic 4 – Once again far too slow. Gives no screening for the defence and takes way too much time on the ball.
Scott McTominay 5 – Found it difficult to get a hold of proceedings next to the obdurate Matic. Passing was, at least, positive-minded.
Andreas Pereira 6 – It was hard to figure out what Pereira’s role was at times, although this was more down to a general sloppiness to United’s play. Pressed defenders and midfielders well – a big plus for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Juan Mata 6 – Quite a typical Mata performance: outmuscled and outpaced sometimes, and on other times breaking free to release melodic passes down the channels. Could start against Chelsea.
Marcus Rashford 7 – Another strong display, notably bringing more energy and ferocity to the affair than anyone else. Cut inside from the left to score an impressive solo goal.
Anthony Martial 6 – Solskjaer seems to like the Frenchman at No.9, which is where he started the game. A bit sloppy at times but close control was good. Produced the assist for Jesse Lingard.
