Manchester United fans have largely not responded well to the club’s transfer business this summer as the window came to a rather quiet conclusion.
Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire were the only incomings with some supporters feeling more signings were needed, particularly in midfield.
Should Paul Pogba become injured or make a shock move away over the coming weeks, United’s engine room would lack serious quality.
Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia departed when their contracts expired while Romelu Lukaku was moved on in deadline day.
The Belgian’s sale would’ve mostly covered the Maguire signing, meaning the Red Devils’ net-spend would hardly have been much at all.

5/10 half way there if we had signed bruno or savic would give 8 or 9

4/10. We made three really good signings, but due to the state of our midfield and lose of our 2nd highest goalscorer, we don't look stronger than we were before. One step forward (defence), two steps back (attack & midfield).

In truth, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made three solid signings that provide a good foundation for the future but another two signings were needed to really make an impact.
Hopefully the legendary Norwegian can paper over the cracks but it’s largely disappointing given how he wasn’t financially backed in a similar way to his predecessors.
It’s embarrassing for Manchester United being outspent by clubs who’ve only just gained promotion this season.
What makes matters worse is executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward’s constant promises of delivering on signings.
United were also shockingly slow in the transfer market as they only seemed capable of juggling one signing at a time, rather than pursuing multiple targets simultaneously.
