Manchester United star Anthony Martial has revealed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s small pep talk with him ahead of a crucial season.
The dazzling Frenchman has been handed the number nine shirt once more after Romelu Lukaku’s departure in a show of faith in him as a striker.
Martial initially played as a striker for United when he arrived but Marcus Rashford‘s meteoric rise saw the two adjust to different roles.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lukaku’s arrivals later on also saw the clinical finisher shoved out wide for the sake of his teammates.
Now Martial will finally play in a central role once more and United fans are certainly hoping he can have a productive season again.
Martial: "Now I've taken the number nine shirt back once again, all Ole has said to me is that I have a lot of responsibility and I have to score goals, so that's what I'm trying to do." #mufc [MU] pic.twitter.com/hpD3rvmP0O

Martial: “Since I was a young kid, I‘ve always played as a striker but, then again, I’m fine with playing more out wide as it’s a position that I enjoy playing. It’s a real pleasure to find myself back in that more central role so I hope I can really help the team.” #mufc [MU]

It appears Rashford’s role for the season will mainly be from the left-wing spot and it does seem he’s less likely to suffer there out of the two.
There will be pressure on Martial to deliver goals regularly as the Red Devils’ haven’t had a striker score 20 or more goals in the Premier League since Robin van Persie did in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season.
With Lukaku leaving without any replacement as well, the former AS Monaco man will have to deliver or he could easily be replaced by Rashford, Mason Greenwood or even Alexis Sanchez.
