Manchester United reportedly saw a crucial deadline day transfer fall through after Marcos Rojo failed to complete a transfer to Everton.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having seven centre-backs for two positions in the starting XI, offloading a few of them was key to keeping a harmonious atmosphere in the dressing room.
It’s safe to say Rojo is not a guaranteed starter and will likely struggle to find minutes given the arrival of Harry Maguire as well as Axel Tuanzebe earning himself a promotion.
Chris Smalling and Phil Jones remain as back-up options and it could be argued they’re both ahead of the rash Argentine at the moment.
Nonetheless, there’s still time for Solskjaer to offload whoever he wants but unfortunately he’ll have to stray away from the Premier League’s riches to do so.
According to Sky Sports, Everton opted against making a deadline day move for Rojo despite earlier interest as they did not wish to meet the Red Devils’ asking price.
Solskjaer’s side really shouldn’t have been haggling on deadline day as they couldn’t afford to keep on paying the 29 year old’s wages just for him to sit on the bench.
It would’ve been better to have reduced the asking price and gotten rid of Rojo in order to make room for better players.
