Manchester United have rejected an offer of £27.4m plus James Rodriguez from Real Madrid for the transfer of Paul Pogba, according to a report.
The Frenchman spoke earlier in the summer of wanting a “new challenge” elsewhere, something underscored by his agent Mino Raiola, with Real Madrid seen as frontrunners to secure his signature.
In response, Man United have placed a £150m price-tag on Pogba’s head and remained adamant that the 26-year-old would be going nowhere this summer.
According to an exclusive in the Times, Los Blancos have made a meek final offer of £27.4m plus Rodriguez, who Zinedine Zidane doesn’t want – a bid United have flatly rejected.
This bid could possibly be worse than Barcelona’s offer of £45m plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina for Pogba at the same time last year. These two Spanish clubs either have a wicked sense of humour or no conception of reality at all.
In a way, we should not be surprised at Real’s paltry bid. The La Liga side has spent a total of £272.7m over the summer, and are in negotiations with Ajax for Donny van de Beek.
Much like with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008, Real will have to wait for another year before getting their man.
