Player ratings: Rashford steals the show as United destroy fierce rivals Leeds

FIRST HALF

Sergio Romero  7 – Was busier than in his previous match against Perth Glory and had he not made a crucial save at 1-0, the match might’ve looked differently.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 8 – Although he was defensively solid, Manchester United fans saw what he can do offensively too as he assisted Mason Greenwood superbly for the opener.

Eric Bailly 7 – Solid defensively though he could still work on cutting out some of his rash decision-making.

Victor Lindelof 7 – Complimented Bailly well but it was his passing that caught the eye. Long may it continue.

Marcos Rojo 5 – Defensively suspect and offered little going forwards. Obviously United’s weakest link/

Scott McTominay 7 – Covered every inch of grass but more impressively, read the game superbly. Forming a solid partnership with Paul Pogba.

Paul Pogba 8 – Seemed to be in the mood, playing Wan-Bissaka in gloriously for his assist. More of the same needed.

Mason Greenwood 7 – Finally got his goal but was relatively quiet otherwise in comparison to previous matches. Was arguably better against Perth Glory, just less clinical.

Juan Mata 6 – Neat and tidy as always but couldn’t do anything decisive. Outshined by his attacking teammates.

Daniel James 7 – Was probably better against Perth but was still bright against Leeds. Came close to grabbing a good goal but his shot unfortunately hit the shot.

Marcus Rashford 8 – Was at his destructive best and proved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer right for starting him over Anthony Martial. Netted after a superb piece of skill.

SECOND HALF

Joel Pereira N/A – Didn’t really have anything to do.

Diogo Dalot 6 – Nothing spectacular and will have to work hard to display the outstanding Wan-Bissaka.

Phil Jones 6 – Netted from a corner but had little to do otherwise.

Chris Smalling 6 – Smooth sailing for him and the rest of the defence.

Ashley Young 6 – With Rojo and Young, United’s left-back is shockingly weak when Luke Shaw isn’t playing. A worry.

Nemanja Matic 6 – Played the least minutes in the squad and doesn’t appear to entirely suit Solskjaer’s intense, high tempo tactics.

Andreas Pereira 6 – Worked hard but it’s a little surprising to see McTominay perform better given Pereira was higher rated at one point.

Tahith Chong 7 – Impressive pieces of skill saw him dominate the second half as he won a penalty for his side.

Jesse Lingard 6 – The quietest of the attacking four but he wasn’t poor either. Similar performance to Mata.

Angel Gomes 7 – Neat interchanges with his teammates and was unlucky not to grab his goal. One for the future.

Anthony Martial 6 – Grabbed his goal but was largely ineffective otherwise. Arguably looks more comfortable as a left-winger than striker.

SUBSTITUTES

James Garner N/A
