Eric Bailly has been pictured leaving the Shanghai Stadium on crutches after sustaining a twisted knee injury during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Ivorian was introduced to the game as part of a second-half XI alongside Victor Lindelof, but only managed eight minutes before going to ground with an injury.
He was pictured after the game looking rather disconsolate as he left the stadium on crutches and with his knee in a heavy brace.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer confirmed that the defender had twisted his knee and that the exact extent of the injury would be determined by scans tomorrow.
Solskjær: “It seems as if he’s [Bailly] twisted his knee, we have to wait for some scans, at the time the first look didn’t look great.” #mulive

If nothing else, this development puts even greater pressure on United to bring in a central defender before the window shuts in precisely two weeks’ time.
With Bailly gone, Solskjaer is left with Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo. With the latter pair also injury prone, United simply do not have enough.
Should they fail to sign a dependable, authoritative defender in this window, the Solskjaer revolution will be dead before it really begins. Ed Woodward and Co. have to recognise this fact.
