Reliable Italian journalist Gabriele Marcotti has revealed that Paul Pogba wants a resolution over his future but is “not desperately itching” to leave Manchester United this summer.
Pogba sent Man United supporters into a state of panic earlier this summer when he declared to reporters in Japan that he wanted a “new challenge”, three years after he rejoined the club for £89m.
His agent Mino Raiola has since underscored his client’s desire to leave, noting that an agreement would soon be reached which “satisfied all parties”.
However, according to Marcotti, leading journalist at ESPN and Corriere dello Sport, the situation is not so simple. Pogba would be open to leaving, but more importantly the Frenchman is after a resolution regarding his future.
Marcotti: "What I've been told, is that Pogba is not desperately itching for a move. He wants a resolution, a way forward. Either a new contract and commitment from the club about the squad, or if there is an offer out there and it works, moving elsewhere." #mufc [ESPN]

It seems as if Pogba, more than anything, wants to get out of the state of limbo in which he finds himself at Old Trafford.
There is often a feeling of transience when it comes to Pogba, with the midfielder often flitting between blisteringly powerful heights and lumbering lows on and off the pitch, and I guess what really matters to him is closure, an effective mapping of where he currently stands.
That could mean a new contract (his current one expires in 2021). It could mean he is allowed to leave this summer (although that seems very unlikely). Maybe it means getting clarification on United’s plan for the next year or so (there isn’t one).
Either way, this Pogba situation can be handled, so long as United speak honestly and promptly to the 26-year-old about how they assess his role at the club going forward.
