Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has insisted he is happy at the club despite being linked with moves to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this summer, Goal report.
Atletico are thought to be looking to sign the Spaniard to replace Filipe Luis who left the club at the start of the transfer window, while Barcelona would bring the left-back to the Camp Nou to help provide competition to Jordi Alba.
However, the 28-year-old wants to stay at Stamford Bridge this season despite the interest from both La Liga giants.
In October last year, Alonso signed a new long term contract until the summer of 2023.
And talking to the media, Alonso was asked about his immediate future, to which he answered:
Of course. I signed a new contract last year and I’m very happy here. I don’t know if there’s been any contact, you will have to speak to Marina about that.
Alonso is adamant that he will be part of Frank Lampard’s plans at Chelsea as he is one of the most experienced players in the Blues squad, making 120 appearances and scoring 18 goals during his stint in London.
Former boss Maurizio Sarri started to favour Emerson halfway through last season, with the Italian dropping Alonso after journalists were questioning his form.
Sarri left Alonso on the bench for the Europa Leauge final against Arsenal and many suggested that the player was starting to question his future.
However, with Sarri no longer at the Bridge, it appears as if the Spaniard is happy to remain with the club for the upcoming campaign.
