Manchester United fans will be ecstatic to find out David de Gea is finally set to extend his stay amidst uncertainty over his future.
The Spaniard was linked with moves to Juventus and PSG as his contract entered into it’s final year with supporters increasingly concerned they would lose their only world-class player.
To make matters worse the goalkeeper may have ended up leaving for free, leaving United to scramble to find a replacement without any funds from a sale.
De Gea was said to be rightfully unhappy over not being the squad’s highest earner having seen Alexis Sanchez earn plenty without making too much of an impact.
The former Atletico Madrid man has also seen the Red Devils’ fail to seriously challenge for the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
According to the Mirror, David is set to agree to a £350k a week, 5 year deal that is almost double his current £200k a week contract as negotiations finally went well.
However, as great as it is that the 28 year old is willing to commit to a new deal, it’s likely he will still wish to depart if Manchester United don’t have an upturn in fortunes over the next season or two.
