Manchester United have confirmed Eric Bailly will miss up to five months worth of action after having an operation to resolve the injury he sustained in the pre-season clash vs Tottenham.
While fans knew right away it would be bad news, no one predicted he’d be out for such a long time.
The injury-prone centre-back will now likely return during the congested winter period which will make it even more difficult for him to get up to speed.
It appears Bailly is set for another rotational season at United and he could even see himself depart next summer should matters not improve.
Everyone knows the talented Ivorian is a top defender on his day but unfortunately he hasn’t remained fit long enough to showcase his ability.
The boss says @EricBailly24 has had an operation and will be out for "four to five months" following the injury he sustained against Tottenham.

With rumours heating up over Harry Maguire’s potential move to Old Trafford, Eric may return to the side with more defenders in it than when he left.
It will be interesting to see whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sells any centre-backs given how overstocked Manchester United are in the position and it’ll be even more interesting to see who remains.
While some fans have called for Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones to be sold, Bailly’s fitness issues may see him head out of the door first.
