Chelsea may have already qualified for the Champions League next season, but there will be an extra incentive for them to beat Arsenal next week.
As reported by Marca, Chelsea are currently heading into next season’s Champions League draw in pot two.
However, win the Europa League on Wednesday night against their London rivals, they will move up into pot one and be given a seeded draw.
By doing so, they will directly avoid some of the top teams in the competition during the group stages.
Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit Saint Petersburg are among the teams that they will miss out on facing by winning the Europa League.
Liverpool or Tottenham will also be placed in pot 1 depending on who wins the Champions League, but neither can be drawn against Chelsea.
While this does not always guarantee anyone an ‘easier’ draw, it will certainly be a favourable boost for the Blues by the time the group stages roll around.
