Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has recently hinted at potential defensive reinforcements this summer, sending Manchester United fans into meltdown.
The Norwegian was said to be targeting numerous signings over the summer with some reports claiming he’s looking for full-backs, central-midfielders and a right-winger.
United were believed to be closing in on Swansea City’s right-winger Daniel James and there’s now a hint on where they’ll invest in next.
Solskjaer has insisted he wants to make changes to his squad gradually rather than the complete overhaul some supporters have been hoping for.
With the summer transfer window heating up, almost no position is safe in the Red Devils’ starting XI, meaning signings could come for anyone.
According to the Express, Ole said after Manchester United legends beat Bayern Munich legends in a charity match: “Jaap and Ronny [were impressive] – we could do with them two at the back.
“They were fantastic the whole season, the ’99 season, those two were unbelievable.”
It’s quit indicative from Solskjaer who has been said to be chasing the likes of Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt, Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester’s Harry Maguire.
The truth is no one truly knows who the Manchester United legend is looking to sign as he’s never been in charge of a transfer window before.
Ole himself has said he wants to bring in young, British talent and has insisted he wants to make smart purchases rather than going gung-ho.
After all, no one predicted the interest in James at all and that transfer appears to be a case of when it happens rather than if.
