Crystal Palace are interested in re-signing Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, who has the spent the second half of the season on loan at the Eagles.
The forward spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Spanish side Valencia before joining Palace on loan in the winter transfer window.
Since his arrival, Batshuayi has netted five times in the Premier League and scored just a single goal in the FA Cup but his performances in the league have been beneficial for the club.
The forward helped his current side avoid getting dragged further into the relegation scrap as Palace secured a 12th-place finish, one point behind Watford and three points away from a top-ten finish.
Eagles manager Roy Hodgson revealed in his post-match interview, as cited on Football London, that he is hoping to bring the Belgian back to the club in the summer.
Conviction didn’t need strengthening its just not in our hands, that’s the thing, when players belong to another club you can say ‘we would like him’ but then there has to be an agreement struck between the two clubs.
But I do know Michy Batshuayi has been happy with us here, I think that’s shown in his football. It’s been obvious that we appreciate him.
I took him out of the team for a while because I was a bit unsure with these loan players who are maybe not going to be with us next year and maybe favoured a player who is maybe going to be here next year.
Chelsea have been given a transfer ban but are in the process of trying to have it postponed. With Gonzalo Higuain coming to the end of his initial loan spell and Olivier Giroud hinting at a potential departure as he wants first team football, the Belgian might end up staying with the Blues if he is guaranteed a start.
Hodgson continued:
We don’t know. All I know is if Michy Batshuayi is going to be available and if our club could bring him here; either on loan or buying him I would be very happy with that and I know himself would be happy.
But again, we are talking about things that are totally out of our control. What Chelsea’s thinking on the subject is I couldn’t possibly begin to imagine or to speculate on.
I suppose the question with regard to him and his future will have to be poised to Chelsea.
