Maurizio Sarri has revealed he is hoping to stay at Chelsea next season and believes the Blues will be title challengers in the next two seasons with their current squad.
Sarri’s side are currently in fourth place in the Premier League as they look to qualify for the Champions League next season, and victory over Watford on Sunday would move the Blues up into third.
The Italian’s future at Stamford Bridge has been under intense scrutiny in the second half of this season following an inconsistent campaign, but Sarri revealed he is keen to extend his stay as Chelsea boss, according to Goal, who cite Gazetta dello Sport.
Will I stay here next season? As far as I’m concerned, yes. I want to stay, English football has unique rhythms and atmospheres.
Sarri’s side could also qualify for the Champions League with victory in the Europa League, and the Blues will be looking to progress to the final in the second leg of their semi final against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
Pedro scored a crucial away goal for the Blues in the first leg last week, though Blues boss Sarri believes his side deserved more than a 1-1 draw against the Bundesliga side, before adding that Chelsea will be in a position to compete for the Premier League title in the next two years.
We deserved to beat Eintracht, they are a good team to face at a difficult time of the season. In England the game is played at very high levels, perhaps the highest there are today, all in a wonderful atmosphere and with the stadiums always full. I am sure that in two years of work we will be closer to the leaders.
