Ajax star and Manchester United target Matthijs de Ligt has broken his silence on just where he might be plying his trade next season.
The Dutchman has been heavily linked with moves to several top European teams after his performances with an inspiring Ajax side rightfully gained plaudits.
The youngster was central to his club’s incredible semi-final Champions League run which essentially made him Europe’s most wanted teenager.
United were said to have joined the race for De Ligt’s signature despite it seemingly being nailed on that Barcelona will get him.
With their being plenty of rumours over his future, the centre-back has taken some time to hint at just where he might play next campaign.
According to ESPN, Matthijs said: “Where do I see myself? Well, obviously the Premier League is a big competition — Spain also — but you have other competitions. It’s not [just] about those two.
“I still don’t know anything about where my future is, so I see how it goes.”
Manchester United fans initially didn’t believe reports that claimed they had a chance at De Ligt’s signature but that has since change.
Many have now grown hopeful as rumours continue to claim he’s closer to a move to Old Trafford than many anticipate.
Just where Matthijs ends up is rather unpredictable simply due to the amount of opposing reports emerging.
Some sections of the media have claimed Barcelona are nailed on in getting the centre-back while others believe they’ve pulled out and United are the main candidates.
