Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their chase for their main summer target and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
The Englishman quickly emerged as one of the club’s most sought-after players due to his performances in Germany in what can only be described as his breakthrough season.
The winger represents the kind of signing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he’d like to make- young, British and full of potential.
Sancho would also be an upgrade on United’s current options out on the right-flank so it made sense for them to chase his signature.
Both Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard have been shoved out wide despite their preferences for the number ten role and it has often showed in matches this season.
According to Manchester Evening News, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “It can be assumed that Jadon will not play more than ten years at BVB
“But we have clear agreements about the present. Jadon is not on the market and plays next season guaranteed at Borussia Dortmund.”
There’s many who believe that the deal for Sancho fell through pretty much the moment the Red Devils failed to qualify for next season’s edition of the Champions League.
After all, why would the youngster depart Dortmund who can offer him the above as well as a real chance at winning silverware.
The German giant came as close as ever in recent history to dismantling Bayern Munich’s grip on the Bundesliga and their successive smart pieces of transfer so far this summer shows that they’re serious about making sure they come out on top next season.
