Juventus star Paulo Dybala now looks unlikely to complete a transfer to Manchester United despite his future previously seeming uncertain.
The Argentine would’ve been a dream signing for many fans, particularly if he plays alongside Paul Pogba.
The pair had a fruitful relationship during their time together in Italy and it likely would’ve been the same at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately Dybala’s time with Juventus doesn’t appear to be over quite just yet and so United may have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
The versatile attacker doesn’t necessarily fit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer policy of young, talented, British players but his quality may have been too tempting to ignore.
According to the Daily Mail, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici said: “He is one of our players, we have great confidence in him.
“The investment we made four years ago and the renewal of his contract is proof of this.
“Dybala is a Juventus player, a very important player for us.”
This could be Juventus’ way of shutting down the transfer rumours or it could be their way of increasing their asking price for Paulo.
However, it’s more likely to be the former given how the player himself has insisted he will remain in Italy after his brother claimed he is unhappy.
Spending big on Dybala is unlikely to be a poor piece of business given how he is an upgrade on United’s current stars and would likely last at the club for quite some time.
An attacking-midfielder was said to be a priority of Solskjaer’s but he will have to now turn his attentions to more available targets.
