David Luiz has admitted that he has spoken to former Chelsea star Salomon Kalou about upcoming Europa League semi-final opponents Eintracht Frankfurt, the Evening Standard report.
Kalou spent six successful seasons at Stamford Bridge and won seven trophies with the Blues, including the Champions League in 2012.
The experienced midfielder now plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin and played against the Blues’ semi-final opponents on the weekend.
The Ivory Coast winger played every minute of Hertha’s 0-0 draw against Frankfurt on Saturday, with Chelsea set to take on the Bundesliga side in Germany on Thursday.
And talking ahead of the game, Luiz admitted that he has been in contact with his former Chelsea teammate, but refused to expand on the conversation.
I have spoken to Salomon about how they play. They had a game against them the other day and drew 0-0 against them. But I can’t tell you what he told me!
Luiz then went on to heap praise on Frankfurt, admitting he expects a tough battle on the pitch.
Eintracht have a fantastic team, they like to play three at the back. They play with a lot of physicality but also great players with technique. It is going to be a tough game for us.
But I am looking forward to this semi-final. I work hard every day to be on the pitch for games like this and try to do my best.
The Brazilian defender will have his hands full on Thursday evening as he looks to stop inform striker Luka Jovic, who has already struck eight times in the Europa League this season.
