Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri has been picked out by Juventus as a potential successor to Massimiliano Allegri, with the Old Lady making contact with the Blues head coach, according to Goal.
It was announced last week that Allegri would leave Juventus this summer after a brilliant five years at the club, where he won five consecutive league titles in Turin.
On the other hand, Sarri has had a mixed time of it during his first season in the Premier League.
On paper he has had a great season, finishing third in the Premier League, while Chelsea have also reached the final of the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.
But the Italian has not endeared himself to the fans his time in England so far.
The main problem has been with the supposed negative style of ‘Sarri-ball’, which has left a lot of fans frustrated at times this season.
But Sarri’s reputation in Italy is much greater and he was one of the most respected coaches in the country during his time with Napoli.
The 60-year-old enjoyed three successful seasons with Napoli, pushing Juventus all the way in the title race, and in 2016/17 Sarri was named Serie A Coach of the Year.
Sarri may feel like he has unfinished business with Chelsea given that he has only spent a year in the Premier League.
But a return to Serie A where he is loved and respected to join the top club in the country and one of the best in the world may be an attractive proposition to Sarri.
