Bordeaux have revealed that they are keen on signing Oliver Giroud this summer with his contract expiring, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The former Arsenal man has struggled for first-team football under Maurizio Sarri since he became Blues boss last summer.
Giroud has made 41 appearances this campaign, but 22 of those have come from the bench.
Given his lack of game time, the striker could leave the club with his contract coming to an end, despite Chelsea having the option to extend his deal.
Giroud has impressed in the Europa League this season though and he has been a key figure in their run to the semi-finals.
He has scored 10 goals from his 12 appearances in the competition this season.
It has been in Europe where he has impressed and caught the eye of teams across the continent.
One side interested is Bordeaux and their chief scout, Hugo Varela, spoke about Giroud with French paper L’Equipe.
People who know him have told us a lot of good things about him as a player, of course, but also as a person. He has the attributes we are looking for, but he is not the only one. No matter who comes, we know that negotiations will be difficult.
Another player who could be set to depart Chelsea this summer is their star man Eden Hazard.
The Belgium international’s contract expires next summer and the Blues look likely to cash in to give Hazard his dream move to Madrid.
