Chelsea have reportedly moved their attention to Ajax winger David Neres with Luka Jovic is set to complete a move to Real Madrid.
The Blues were reportedly chasing the Serbian striker with the possible departure of loanee Gonzalo Higuain.
Maurizio Sarri got a first-hand look at the forward in their last Europa League match against Eintracht Frankfurt as Jovic scored in each leg, taking his tally to 10 goals in the competition.
But now the 21-year-old is set to complete a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in a deal thought to be worth around £52 million, and according to the Independent, Chelsea have shifted their interest onto the Brazilian David Neres, with those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge big admires.
The Ajax star, who is valued at around £40 million, has impressed for the Dutch side this season and has been an important part of their success.
He has found the back of the net 10 times in their league-winning campaign while picking up 11 assists.
The Blues see the player as a potential replacement for winger Eden Hazard who also looks likely to be making a move to Real Madrid in the summer also.
With a ban looming, Chelsea are being cautious about their transfer business however they are still hopeful of an appeal to CAS, who could freeze the ban while the allegation is put under investigation.
Chelsea are not the only team to notice Neres’ achievements this season as PSG, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked with the 21-year-old.
