Manchester United reportedly want David de Gea to stay despite reports linking him with a move abroad.
The Spaniard is widely considered to be the world’s best goalkeeper yet he’s been allowed to enter the final year of his contract.
De Gea has been tipped for a move to Real Madrid for several years now but their recent signing of Thibaut Courtois has complicated matters.
Zinedine Zidane’s return has seen Keylor Navas become a regular in the starting XI as well.
This could mean that if the 28 year old does wish to depart it would probably have to be elsewhere.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are willing to continue talks with David beyond the summer and will reject any bids for him despite his contract running out in 2020.
The former Atletico Bilbao man would potentially end up leaving for free if his club aren’t careful with negotiations.
It’s already believed that talks have been going on for over a year with no end in sight as both parties are at a dead end.
De Gea reportedly wants his £240k a week contract doubled but Manchester United aren’t willing to do so as fans continue to become frustrated with the lack of good news.
