Manchester United are set to face Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea in the span of a week which is arguably Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s most crucial time at the club.
The Norwegian has had some tough fixtures since joining as caretaker manager and he’s navigated through many of them quite well.
However, United have looked a shadow of the squad that blew away teams at the start of Solskjaer’s reign and it’s been suggested that fitness issues are at the centre of the recent poor form.
There’s good reason to believe that’s the case with many of the club’s stars suffering injuries since the former Molde man’s intense tactics were introduced to them.
It was Ole’s high tempo, pressing, direct attacking football that won over fans at the beginning but the Red Devils have since forgotten all those values.
The players can be visibly seen trying their best on the pitch but unfortunately they’ve come up short in recent fixtures.
In fact, the Red Devils’ have had several good starts to matches before waning off for the rest of the 90 minutes.
Solskjaer’s men have looked leggy and not as mobile as they were at the start of his reign so if he hopes to bring back the same kind of results, he’ll have to make sure his stars are fresh.
Unfortunately for the Manchester United legend, he can’t work on his squad’s fitness when matches are coming thick and fast so he’ll have to hope they can hold on until pre-season comes around.
The rest of the Premier League isn’t gonna wait for Ole’s stars to find their feet though so the responsibility is on him and his staff to keep his players fit.
Though not ideal, he will have to rotate heavily over the coming week before having a week’s break to face Huddersfield and another for the season’s closer against Cardiff.
A week’s length of time off before matches is the perfect amount needed for United but unfortunately they won’t get that before facing the trio of fixtures waiting for them starting Sunday.
