Olivier Giroud has admitted there is interest in him from other clubs ahead of crunch talks with Chelsea at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has played second fiddle to both Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain all season, starting just seven Premier League games.
Speaking to French outlet Telefoot, as cited by Get French Football News, Giroud expressed his desire to play more while mentioning other clubs are interested in his services.
There is no pressure. The club has this unilateral option [on me]. But I am just doing my job and we will see what happens… I still have a few good years ahead of me. So, there you have it, I hope to play a bigger role. I know that there are clubs that are interested. I am going to meet with the board to discuss it all at the end of the season… I am happy here, for the moment.
Giroud’s goalscoring record in the Europa League has made him a valuable asset to Maurizio Sarri this term though, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 11 games to help Chelsea reach the semi-finals.
It seems like the Frenchman is viewed as an impact player though, not a regular starter, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he was to look for more game time in the summer.
