Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that the alarm bells are ringing for his side ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match with Arsenal (via Football.London).
It’s a huge match for Arsenal as the Gunners take on Napoli in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
The Serie A side is one of the best left in the competition and will pose a major test to Unai Emery’s side.
However, it seems as if the Italian team are suffering defensively and haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last six matches, something which manager Carlo Ancelotti commented on recently.
“We’re defending badly at the moment, even when it was 11 against 10, and that means we cannot control the game,” Ancelotti said after his side drew 1-1 with ten-man Genoa on Sunday.
“If you control the game, you don’t allow counter-attacks, you don’t let the opposition to turn and run at you.
“It’s an alarm bell, certainly, because if we play like this in London, then we’re in trouble.
“It is unusual to see Napoli doing that, so we have four days to focus back on the basics, because these are basics we’re getting wrong.”
It seems like it could be a good time for Arsenal to play Napoli. The Italian side are on a poor run of form defensively while Arsenal’s record at the Emirates STadium has been exemplary this season. Let’s hope the tie can be secured before the dreaded away leg next week.
