Former Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini has revealed why he left the club during the last transfer window.
The Belgian opted to move to China during the January transfer period, not long after Jose Mourinho was sacked and replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Portuguese boss often favoured the former Everton man, particularly during tense moments for his sides.
However, under Solskjaer, Fellaini’s influence had wained and he hardly featured at all let alone from the bench.
Though many fans praised him for giving his all during his time at Old Trafford, hardly any were truly upset to see him leave.
According to Get Football News France, Marouane said: “It was the right time to leave. I wanted a new challenge, a new adventure, and the time had come.”
Despite the decreased match-time, not many expected Fellaini to leave already given how he had just extended his contract fairly recently.
The tenacious midfielder was more likely to depart during the summer but opted to transfer to China now rather than later.
Marouane’s attributes simply didn’t suit Solskjaer’s style of football and even if the manager was replaced in the summer, whoever was coming in was unlikely to rely on him nonetheless.
Mauricio Pochettino is one of the favourites to be the Manchester United boss and his attacking tactics would’ve probably seen the Belgian on the bench more often than not.
