Arsenal’s Bernd Leno has insisted that the Gunners are ready to press ahead for the top four after Chelsea’s massive defeat to Manchester City (via The Standard).
It was the sort of result which Arsenal have been on the receiving end of on more than a couple of occasions in recent years but it was Chelsea who lost 6-0 to Manchester City.
A Sergio Aguero hat-trick helped Pep Guardiola’s side keep up the title race but the result also had implications on the race for the top four.
Arsenal actually moved ahead of Chelsea on goal difference and now, Bernd Leno has insisted that the Gunners are now ready to push on for Champions League qualification.
“It is a good competition between all the teams. Chelsea played Manchester City and the gap to Manchester United is one point, so everything is possible.
“We wait for the other teams and if they make mistakes. We do our work to win every game and on Saturday we did the job.
“In two weeks, we have another League game and we want to work hard. Our last away win [in the League] was at Bournemouth in November. It was important for us to win and also to win away.”
Chelsea’s 6-0 defeat to Manchester City really opened up the door for the Champions League qualification. The Gunners are right in the race with Manchester United and potentially Spurs with lots of football to be played.
