Chelsea have been handed a two transfer window ban by FIFA this week, meaning that, as it stands, they are unable to sign any players in the upcoming window.
The club have been heavily fined and given a two-window ban, for breaching rules around the transfers of minors.
Chelsea’s offences have breached both article 19 and article 18 of FIFA’s regulations, with 29 minors signed in breach of article 19 and two in breach of article 18.
However, according to The Daily Mail, there could yet be hope for Chelsea’s summer transfer business.
The report claims that Chelsea are likely to appeal the ban and delay the punishments until after the summer window.
This means that they will be able to make any key signings that they need to make in the summer, before they are unable to register players for the following two transfer windows.
Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently on loan from Juventus, would be unable to join permanently if Chelsea are banned for the upcoming window.
