Former England manager Sam Allardyce says he is “staggered and shocked” at Chelsea’s decision to allow Christian Pulisic go back on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.
Chelsea agreed a £57m deal to sign the American international from the German side, but the Blues allowed him to stay with Dortmund until the end of the current campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports News as part of their Deadline Day coverage, “Big Sam” said he couldn’t believe that Chelsea sanctioned such a deal.
He said:
I am staggered and shocked, What if he does an ACL over there? You invest that much money and then you have the settling in period. Next season, who knows? He might come in and struggle.
Pulisic was linked with moves to the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham but it was Chelsea who stumped up the cash for the winger and he’ll join up with his new teammates in the summer.
The Dortmund star will be willing The Blues on to a top-four finish as he’ll be hoping to be playing Champions League football at Stamford Bridge next season.
