Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear following Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United – his fourth in as many games – that he wanted the manager job on a permanent basis.
“I don’t want to leave,” he said. “It’s such a great bunch of players, great atmosphere. But it’s the next game, it’s the next game, it’s the next game, and I’m doing my job as long as I’m here.”
And amid the glee following Man United’s most meaningful win yet under Solskjaer, there were many – perhaps seriously, perhaps jokingly, perhaps a mixture of both – advocating the idea of the 46-year-old getting the gig on a permanent basis.
So, on the morning after, as it were, we thought it’d be interesting to ask supporters the question directly: Do you want Solskjaer as permanent manager?
Far too early to tell. Love Ole, was excited we were bringing him in. Love even more what he’s done and doing. But we are only 4 games in. Let’s see where we are in March

There were, of course, a good number who said yes immediately, but the overriding consensus which has emerged strikes a more moderate tone: most are not outright dismissing the prospect, insisting more time was required to make a proper judgement.
Others, on the other hand, feel as if Mauricio Pochettino is the only man who should be considered. He is the primary target for both the club’s board and its supporters.
Should the Tottenham Hotspur manager turn the job down, and Solskjaer keeps winning, the complexion may well change.
