Reports suggest that Arsenal will consider the future of Mesut Ozil at the end of the season as the German’s tested relationship with the club continues (via The Standard).
After five years at the club, Mesut Ozil continues to be a point of contention for Arsenal fans and pundits alike.
The German’s future at the club has been cast in doubt in recent weeks with reports he was considering leaving the club, something which the player’s agent attempted to downplay this week.
“Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal and nothing has changed in his mind,” Dr. Erkut Sogut told Goal.com.
“He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.
“Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.”
There were rumours of a reported falling out between the player and head coach Unai Emery but fresh reports suggest that things may not be so bad.
Standard Sport have claimed that Emery has been pleased by Ozil’s desire to fight for his place in the side but that the club will reevaluate the German’s future in the summer.
It was never likely that Mesut Ozil would leave Arsenal during this January transfer window but it’s good that those rumours have been put to bed. What every Gunners fan wants is to see Ozil put in consistent performances to the level we know he is capable of.
