Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed after Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Reading that the injury sustained by Alexis Sanchez was not a serious one.
The Chilean made his first start since returning to action following a hamstring injury, and supplied a superb assist for Romelu Lukaku to put the result to bed on the stroke of half time.
Worryingly, though, he immediately signalled to the bench after feeling a pang in the problematic hamstring to be replaced by Marcus Rashford in the second half.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer insisted that Sanchez would “be okay”, noting he came off primarily because of fatigue.
Ole: “He’ll (Sanchez) be okay, he was tired, hopefully it wasn’t a bad reaction.” #mufc [BT]

It was a game in which no United player – from an attacking point of view especially – could particularly thrive, such was the stunted nature of this performance from a heavily changed team, but there were reasons to be optimistic about Sanchez.
That incisive pass for Lukaku was an example of the Chilean’s capacity to thrive when there is movement ahead of him. He was, on the whole, sharp on the ball, moving play forward whenever he could. Two assists in two games is a good start for a player who, under Jose Mourinho, looked completely and utterly lost on the pitch.
United now fly to Dubai for some warm weather training over four days ahead of playing Tottenham Hotspur. Sanchez will look forward to getting some further miles under his belt on the training ground in the baking Arabian heat.
