Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised his side’s professional performance while complimenting two of his attackers after the 2-0 win over Newcastle.
The three points mean the Norwegian’s side have cut the gap from the top four spots from eleven points to six points since his arrival.
United will have to continue relying on Arsenal and Chelsea collectively dropping points but will face their first true test against Tottenham later this month.
Nonetheless, Solskjaer managed to pick his first clean sheet in his four game reign and will be pleased with how his team stuck to their guns.
Newcastle proved to be stubborn opposition but Marcus Rashford and substitute Romelu Lukaku helped to breach them the first time around.
Ole: “Finally we kept a clean sheet from set pieces! Very professional performance. We were in control, kept plugging away, great strike again from Marcus, good reaction from Rom. When you see Big Rom running towards you I think you’ll stick your hands away.” #mufc [Sky]

It’s now twice in as many games that the Belgian has scored coming off the bench and it shouldn’t be long before he gets a well deserved start.
Unfortunately for him Rashford has been in fine form and is starting ahead of him based on merit rather than anything else.
Should Lukaku keep it up however, there’s no real reason why they both can’t play in the same starting XI whether it’s as a partnership up top or the youngster on the wing.
