Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is set to join Lazio on loan until the end of the season, with the option to make the move permanent in the summer.
According to The Express, who cite claims emerging in Italy, Chelsea have accepted a loan offer, with a £13.5 million option to buy.
Zappacosta was signed as back-up to Victor Moses under Antonio Conte but has found himself out of favour under Maurizio Sarri.
Cesar Azpilicueta is his preferred choice in the right-back role, so the former Torino man has found himself with limited playing time.
He has started each of Chelsea’s Europa League games but has played just 18 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
The 26-year-old made 44 appearances for Chelsea, scoring on two occasions.
With Zappacosta set to leave, this move could free up space in the squad for Chelsea to make a move for Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj, who has been heavily linked with a move to London since Sarri’s arrival.
