Maurizio Sarri has hailed Chelsea target and Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain as a ‘wonderful man’, amid increasing links to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, as reported by the Metro, Sarri was quizzed about the striker after reports suggested that Chelsea are once again considering a move to sign him in January.
I like him very much, he is a wonderful player and man. But I don’t want to talk about him. I have two and a half strikers at the moment, Higuain plays for Milan.
Sarri was keen to bring the Argentinian to Stamford Bridge over the summer, but Chelsea were unwilling to meet Juventus’ asking price for the 31-year-old.
Due to the club’s transfer policy, Higuain was deemed too expensive for a player of his age.
The pair know each other very well after their time at Napoli and are believed to still maintain a good relationship.
Higuain strived under Sarri during his time at Napoli and it was his goals under the Italian head coach that saw him earn a big-money move to Juventus.
