Manchester United’s new boss and caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told Mason Greenwood to prepare for his debut.
The Norwegian was appointed following Jose Mourinho’s recent dismissal but he hasn’t wasted any time in immediately providing a pathway from the club’s academy to its first team.
Solskjaer previously had a stint being in charge of United’s reserves and spoke passionately about the need to stick to the club’s traditions.
Greenwood is widely regarded as being amongst the best of the current crop of youth having been in fine form all season long.
Fans have been calling for the youngster to be handed a start for some time now but it fell on deaf ears when Mourinho was in charge.
According to The Mirror, Ole told Mason to get ready for his debut which will happen against Reading in the FA Cup.
It is the perfect fixture for the Englishman to make his first appearance given how the Red Devils were knocked out of the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
With the Premier League and the Champions League the more serious competitions, handing Greenwood his debut in the early rounds of the FA Cup is the most appropriate time.
