AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso admits he is not confident of signing Cesc Fabregas in the summer.
The Chelsea veteran has been continually linked with a move to Italy, as he enters the twilight of his glittering career.
His first team opportunities are becoming increasingly hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, with a move making sensing for the Spaniard.
The 31-year-old will be available to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, as his Chelsea contract expires.
Gattuso has cast doubt over a possible move for Fabregas, however, telling DAZM that Financial Fair Play could be an issue:
We have stakes. We cannot do what we want.
The club has been clear. Fabregas? There are important figures involved.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted he would be happy to keep hold of Fabregas, saying:
In this position we have only two players, Jorginho and Fabregas, so for me it would be really a problem without Cesc.
I want him to stay, I don’t know the final decision of Cesc and the club of course.
But for me it’s very important and if Cesc will go I think that we need to buy another player, and it’s not easy because, technically, Cesc is a very important player.
And I think that in the market it’s very difficult to find a player with his characteristics.
Fabregas is in his fifth season at Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles along the way.
