Long-term Chelsea target Daniele Rugani is poised to sign a new contract at Juventus.
According to Davide Torchia, the player’s agent, a new deal in Turin is in the offing, putting to bed any rumours about his future. Speaking to Radio Sportiva, as cited on Calciomercato, he talked up the chances of a new contract offer.
There have been many requests over the years, including Chelsea, but Juventus has never wanted to sell it because he believes in him, sooner or later we will talk about the new contract, but the clubs decide how and when.
Rugani was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer, but the move fell through when Juventus refused to sell at the last minute.
The defender, who worked with Maurizio Sarri at Empoli, was one of the key targets identified by the incoming Chelsea head coach.
Having sold Mattia Caldara to Milan, Juventus refused to lose Rugani in the same window.
It has since been suggested that Rugani could be on the move in January, with Chelsea still keen to strengthen defensively.
Following the return of Leonardo Bonucci, Rugani is among the defenders struggling to get regular game time under Massimo Allegri this season.
