Manchester United legend Gary Neville has handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the task of doing three jobs and not one after being appointed the club’s caretaker manager.
There’s potential the Norwegian will be given a permanent role but it will take a monumental effort in a very short amount of time.
Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be the favourite for the United job in the summer but naturally Solskjaer will do everything in his power to prevent that.
Neville has placed extra pressure on his former teammate’s shoulders, calling him to completely revamp the club.
At least Ole will be encouraged by the start he’s made with the Red Devils thumping Cardiff City 5-1 in his first game in charge.
According to The Mirror, Gary said: “Ole’s job in the next six months is to be head coach, head scout, head of recruitment and making sure he feeds back really good information into the recruitment department of what the club needs.”
It’s true the whole club needs to be shaken up but perhaps Solskjaer’s efforts are better spent elsewhere.
After all, it’s Ed Woodward’s job to deal with the other issues and he can so by hiring a director of football.
Paul Mitchell is thought to be the favourite for that role and the sooner he’s appointed the better so United are prepared for the summer.
Ole’s efforts are better spent trying to somehow squeeze the club into the top four before his time is up as it’s a big enough task in and of itself.
