Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Mateo Kovacic and Marcos Alonso will be fit to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.
The Blues boss spoke to the media as he previewed his side’s trip to Molineux in midweek. When quizzed about the condition of his squad, the Italian was optimistic over the chances that his duo have of featuring in the upcoming game.
Both Kovacic and Alonso picked up knocks during Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
This prompted fears that the pair could be absent as the Blues look to build on their win at the weekend against Wolves. However, as quoted by West London Sport, Sarri revealed that he has received an update on their condition.
The Chelsea boss discussed Kovacic and Alonso’s chances of featuring and said:
I spoke with the doctor 10 minutes ago and we have no injuries at the moment. We had a little problem with Kovacic in the last match and also Alonso. But for the doctor, they are able to play.
Now we have to see in the last training session just in order to understand if there is somebody tired after the (Fulham) match.
Sarri could rotate against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side irrespective of any injury concerns, however, as the fixtures begin to come thick and fast in the festive period.
