Arsenal have sent scouts to track the progress of the 22-year-old Italian centre-back, Gianluca Mancini (via Sport Witness).
Ask any Arsenal fan and most will agree that the defence is the weakest part of the team right now.
A pacy right winger would be nice but the Gunners are in dire need of upgrades at left-back and centre-back.
Well, it seems as if Sven Mislintat agrees on the latter count as the club has sent scouts to check on the progress of Gianluca Mancini
The 22-year-old centre-back is currently playing for Atalanta and has scored in each of his last three Serie A matches.
CalcioMercato claimed that the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund were watching Mancini as his Atalanta team beat Inter Milan 4-1 on the weekend.
Arsenal have only had three Italian players in the club’s entire history: Arturo Lupoli, Vito Mannone and more recently, Emiliano Viviano.
Gianluca Mancini seems like a good prospect. Arsenal haven’t had many Italian players down the years but that could certainly change. We’ll have to wait and see how he develops.
